Welcome Patrick and Robin!

Thanks for the welcome! I'll be visiting the forum regularly throughout the next fortnight. Object Persistence is a key part of a company's strategic architectural vision, and JDO has a central part to play in this arena. I'm looking forward to the discussions here.
Kind regards, Robin.

Yes welcome. I think it's pretty much the same to work with hibernate and jdo when you learn it but the reason i like jdo more is that the support is really great from vendors and jdocentral.com compared to the free help you can(t) get from hibernate so for me it have been easier to learn, so keep up the good work and keep supporting us newbies
I am not sure what bad experiences you have about Hibernate, but I am working with Hibernate for about 2 years now and I must say that my collaboration with the Hibernate community and Hibernate developers has been great. Having the dev guys answering your questions is quite perfect. Moreover, after Hibernate joining JBoss, you can even buy commercial services for Hibernate. The documentation available on Hibernate is quite comprehensible and even the free Hibernate reference will give you a very good start. This being said I hope you will better evaluate both solutions.
What a nice surprise to find you at Javaranch. I very much enjoyed spending some time with Robin over in Orlando. With your help, we've been able to make great progress on the design group in the accounting project. I hope things are going well for you with Solarmetric, Robin.
I'll see if I can post a few questions here this week on some of the best practices and challenges we've been having for both Robin and Patrick
