hi frnds,

i am very very new to hibernate and starting with the installation. I went thru the hibernate.org and looked for installaton but i am not very clear about it.

It says extract the archive and place JDBC driver jar file in lib directory. Pls explain as where i can find this JDBC driver. I feel its really a stupid and basic question but i really dont know.

pls help me.

Hi
I'm fairly new to Hibernate too.
I have it working though so maybe I can help.
The JDBC driver translates java into the language of whatever DB you're using so Hibernate needs it to talk to your DB.
For example you might have an Oracle JDBC driver or one for MySQL or whatever. You must have the right one for your particular type of DB.
The drivers are not shipped with Hibernate.
You have to get the driver jar from elsewhere.
I develop against SQLServer2000 so already had the driver for this. But I just googled: 'oracle jdbc driver download' and found a link to the oracle website where you appear to be able to download the driver for free.
I expect the others are the same.

thx for the reply...i am using mysql and ound the driver so now will try to get the hibernate work.

do u know about any site where i can get small application using eclipse and hibernate for practise and learning.

i guess i will be needing ur help always
