Derby and Hibernate

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Has anyone here any experience using Hibernate with Derby? Is there full support in Hibernate for Derby?

Its not a supported database. But Hibernate does apparently work with Apache Derby, so presuming you don't intend to use Derby/Hibernate in production you should be fine (see here and here).

Thank you. So, if we wanted to use hibernate on a database imbedded on a client desktop application, HSQL seems like the best bet?

Are there plans to make Apache Derby an officially supported database?

Can't tell you I'm afraid. You might find the answer in the Hibernate forums or by emailing one of the developers.
