Problem with classes12.jar

Hi I am using classes12.jar as my oracle driver and Hibernate2.0. I am not able to save blob type using Hibernate. Can anyone help please?

While this almost certainly not the cause of your problem, please note that Oracle's classes12.jar is for use with Java 1.1 and Java1.2

The ojdbc14.jar is for use with Java 1.3 and 1.4

The 10.2.0.1 version of ojdbc14.jar is further certified for use with Java 1.5. Earlier versions of the ojdbc14.jar are not.

Newer versions of ojdbc14.jar and classes12.jar are supposedly backwards compatable with older versions of the database.

Ok Thanks for the reply. I am using Java 1.4. Do you think the driver won't create any problem in saving the blob type?

While this almost certainly not the cause of your problem...

Oracle's 8i driver is far from perfect

Can you show us:
  • the code you use
  • your mapping file (or part thereof)
  • any exception message that is generated (or explain how the application behaves if there is no exception)
