Hi

Basically I want to update my database with creation and modification date/time values. I've tried looking for good examples of doing this but they are quite difficult to follow and don't seem to explain everything.
Does anybody know any good tutorials/examples etc?

there are easier ways to do! but we can not use <timestamp> for optimistic locking. also check out this entry and especialy the comment by anthony from the hibernate forums:
