Hello,

I have xml document coming in as webservice request with data to populate Hibernate objects. Is there a good strategy to do this other than manually mapping data (via DOM/SAX) from xml tree to Hibernate objects? Thanks.

Hibernate 3.0 can convert between xml and Java objects, it is in the mapping file of the java object that you can also include node="" in your mapping. Check out Hibernate's website to search for his feature to get more details.

If you have and XML Schema, then Hyperjaxb2 could be a good option for you.
Take a look at https://hyperjaxb2.dev.java.net .
