Sql in xml files

We can use mapping files to put all our SQL into external xml files. I like it this way, and we're using iBatis at work because we needed to it this way.
I've almost never touched other ORM frameworks, and I'd like to know if this is particular to iBatis, or if other frameworks too do it that way.

In hibernate you can specify the sqls in the xml file which you use to map the java objects with the database tables(*.hbm.xml).
