I am unable to set the sie of the a column of type BLOB using hbm2ddl. In the hibernate mapping file I am setting the length of the property as follows :

This doesn't seem to have any effect because the SQL that is being generated by hbm2ddl is explicitly setting the length of the column to 255. The database we are using is DB2. Any help would be very appreciated.

<property name="image" type="blob(1000)">
<column name="IMAGE">
<comment>Image/</comment>
</column>
</property>
