what is JTA in hibernate?

iam new to hibernate so anybody can explain me what is JTA??

JTA (Java Transaction API) is a set of interfaces used for managing transactions. The application server and the resources involved in the transaction use these interfaces to manage transactions. More details can be found at JTA
