Do i allowed to copy a hibernate source

Hey,

I wonder if i allowed to copy hibernate source to my sources without changed it (except to the package name ) or delete their signature on the file

Not quite sure why you would even want to do this if all you need to do is use Hibernate in your application.


If you want to create your own Hibernate fork, meaning you take the current Hibernate version, take the code, and start coding more into Hibernate on your own and release it as a new open source ORM tool, then I believe that the you can based on the Open Source license that Hibernate uses which should be LGPL or GPL.

I saw that they have a nice StringUtis.

I use hibenate in my application, but i dont want to be depends on this file, so i wonder if i can copy it to my utilities, with their credit.

hmmmm..... how about importing org.apache.commons.lang.StringUtils from the jakarta commons-lang project (commons-lang.jar)?
