RK is being bombarded with PMs so he'd like the facility removed ?
A guess.

No.
I think it should be mandatory for all registered user.
It is optional right now so even if you want to communicate privately you cant because other person has not ticked the PM option.

I hate that PM stuff. If somebody wants to send me a private message, I make my e-mail address publicly available.

I think exposing your e-mail address makes it more vulnerable for recieving spam mails.
And dont we read PM's on our mail anyway.

It is possible that the person you tried to PM has not opted for the email notification. It is also possible that the person in question doesn't even remember that there is a PM facility and doesn't check his profile for months...

The forum software has ways of protecting the e-mail addresses from e-mail harvesting robots.

I think PM should be optional because people come here to talk on the forums not privately. If they wanted to talk privately then they would turn on PMs.

And I agree that PM should be optional. For example RK Singh may not like to receive PM's from me. Just joking , don't block my PM's.

The problem comes when you get a PM and you reply it and found that other guy has not turned on PM option.
I think better approach will be that whenever a person sends PM to other and if his own PM option is set to off then he should see a message that other person wont be able to reply him back as his PM option is not checked.
