I am new to java so please help me in designing this problem.

Requirement: We have 5 products(p1,p2,p3,p4,p5). There are certain input parameters which defines which product needs to be selected. That input parameters are selected by user through a UI. This scenario may look like a simple one. We can have a productchooser which has so may if ..else condition and finally selects the product. But I want to move the selection logic to database.

The hierarchy(the tree representaion) will be maintained in the database we should get a compiled OO representaion of the tree and then we have to compare this tree with the object to get the correct product.

Can we do the above scenario using hibernate. If any one can help, I can explain it more.

To be honest, it sounds more like a job for a Rules Based engine like Jess or JBoss Rules.

But it kind of also sounds like a school class project.
