There is one of those monsterous WROX books that has some SOAP stuff in it & there are lots of web resources.

Another option (again, hitting the bookstores next month) is last week's feature Building Web Services: Making Sense of XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI by Steve Graham, et. al.

Yes. It doesn't even assume you know XML. It tries to cover all of the bases. It has plenty of examples of SOAP messages, Java code, etc.
