Hi All,
When I try to access a soap service running on some distant server( http://maxwell.cs.uga.edu:8888/soap/servlet/rpcrouter ), from behind the firewall I get the following exception.
Caught SOAPException (SOAP-ENV:Client): Error opening socket: maxwell.cs.uga.edu
Could any one help with a piece of java code to connect to server from behind the firewall

You probably need to go through a proxy server. The following thread may help.

Apache vs IBM
I too have a 'content sensitive' Proxey Server which has a horrible appetite for anything not travelling on Port 80 highway.
Apache doc has NOTHING with regards to setting the Port number for their SOAPServer..
I will use the IBM UDDIRegistry in the hope that I can register at least ONE SOAP Server
BTW: Apache Axis Server comes up fine and I can
connect ANY client to it..
