I am basically a B2Bi and EAI person familiar with the webMethods tool.
I am familiar with XML schemas, namespaces and to an extent SOAP and RosettaNet ...
To start developing web services and using them , as they are being predicted as the future partners of EAI and B2Bi, how do I start ??
The number of specifications and articles is mind boggling ...
Can someone help in suggesting a starting point from where I can work along ...
TIA ,
Rgds,
Lakshmi

If you work on JAVA based web/app servers, first I recommend to start with Apache SOAP 2.3.x. Try run all the samples there. Use the Apache TCP Tunnel Monitor tool to understand how XML is being encoded and all.
Then read the SOAP specifications. Then come to UDDI and WSDL stuff. Read the specs directly first.
Then you are done. You can start working on Sun's implementation of web services, JAVA Webservices Developer Pack.
All the best.

I would say you'd better off by just go to one of the implementation such Axis and working on the examples there.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
