What can you tell me about WS, as in "WS security specs?" Is it an organization? What does the WS stand for?

Hi Jim, welcome to JavaRanch. I'm sure that our invited guest will be able to answer your question about the WS-Security spec. However, in the meantime, you should be aware of the Javaranch naming conventions. Please change your user id to conform to these rules.
Thanks!
Kyle

It stands for Web Services, hence WS Security is Web Services security. Its basically a standard that was created because prior to it, there was no existing standard or "simple solution" to securing a Web service.
