I am very new to any web service java stuff, but I want to learn. To learn I really need to setup an environment where I can practice and try out code, so I downloaded the latest Java WSDP and when I tried to run the tomcat server on it, it said this:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Files\Symantec\Norton
I have no idea what is going on. If somebody can give me some assistance as to how to setup an environment where i can practice J2EE stuff I would greatly appreciate it.
I also downloaded the J2EE SDK, I think you can run a server from that package, but I'm not sure what that "server" gives you. Is it just like an emulator that lets you try code out on it? Is it an all out server? I have no idea how to setup Tomcat, but I'm learning. Is that the only route I can go. And after I install Tomcat, do I need to run certain Java plugins (or whatever the correct term is for them), that will allow me to run EJB, Servlets, JSP, etc. Like I said I am a real newbie at all this...so I am reading up as I go. Thanks for whatever information that can be given.
