Not a technical question.... but :
How "SAML" has to be pronounced ?
Have seen something like "SAM-ul" in an article.
Is that true ?
If yes, why "SAM-ul" and not "SAM-L" ?

What does it stand for ? That might give a clue as to how it is to be pronounced .

SAMuL is my guess .i.e. SAM-you-L rather than SAM-el-L .
But then again SAM-uel-L is a better fit, sounds friendly and makes you feel like you are on best-mate terms with SAMUEL

Yep, you found what it stands for.
Bravo !

And Sam-ul makes sense. At first glance, I didn't think about the "u" in markUp.
Thanks for this linguistic hint

You are welcome!
Any idea why it has Assertion in the name ?
Does it have a technical implication or does it just add emphasis to the term Security - as in Security Assertion .

Nope.
But SAML is, I think, based on S2ML (Security Services Markup Language) and AuthML.
So maybe the "A" as been introduced in order to differenciate the new spec.
"SML" would have been too close to S2ML
[Disclaimer] : this assumption does not rely on any scientific basis....
