You can get started with Web Services in a number of different ways. Java typically implements SOAP servers as a servlet - Tomcat is a good free servlet engine and general web server (jakarta.apache.org). The AXIS SOAP implementation is supposed to be pretty good.
If you don't want to get into that, the GLUE web service engine from www.themindelectric.com is supposed to be easy to use and there is a free version.

Hi ,
Just as a suggestion , instead of looking at how to use web services, better to start from thinking in the point of why to use web services. other things are just tools which help you to write and invoke web services.
Thanks
Manas
