I heard somewhere that you could take the Java 2 Certification more than once on a single puchased voucher. I am also under the assumption that you can not take re-take the exam for at least two weeks after your attempted the exam. Could someone please help clarify this information. Also, Is there a limit to how many attempts one can take the exam per a yer. Are the limits per a year based on the calendar year Jan - Dec? OR Are the limits based on a year from your first attempt of the exam?
Hi Timothy, Yes, you must wait at least 2 weeks before retaking the exam. As far as retaking with the same voucher, I hope not! I just purchased another one... And you shouldn't be worrying about any caps on the number of times a year (which I doubt there are)...you should be planning to kick it in the butt the next time (like me)! Cheers, Liz

Elizabeth, Thanks for your reply. I also want to kick but on the exam. I studied for the exam earlier this year quite extensively, but I did not get a chance to take the exam b/c of some unexpected family matters. I am now ready to review my studies for the exam. However, I need to take the test fast. My current employeer is switching technologies to Microsoft's VB and ASP. It will be difficult to study for the java exam and keep up with the learning curve at work. Thanks again.

Timothy, Keep up the good work! I have not yet had the opportunity to use Java on the job (although I hope to in the future). My current project is development with Vignette V/5 (formerly StoryServer). It is challenging trying to learn Java and take the SCJP while not having the chance to work with it on the job, but it can be done (I hope to be living proof of that in the next couple of weeks). I wouldn't let the fact that your employer is changing technologies change the path you are on for Java certification. You may just need to modify it a bit... Best of luck, Liz
You must purchase a voucher for each exam attempt. If you fail once you have to wait a minimum of 2 weeks to do the exam again. But there are ways around that too. I know of people who failed by one question and went back 2 days later to do it again. If you fail a second time I believe you have to wait a month. Dave
