It may seem like a simple question, but can a web service query a database?
The reason I ask is that I have a service deployed, but it seems unable to find a JDBC driver for some reason.
My tomcat output says this:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
Now, whenever I had this application running standalone (not as a service or anything), it worked fine. This is really bugging me, can anyone shed any light?
Thanks

A web service can definately access database. Since it is giving class not found, I think the problem is with the classpath. Give the fully qualified classname in the configuration settings.

Hello Dominic,
I think you must place mysql-connector-java-3.0.8-stable-bin.jar file in axis\WEB-INF\lib folder.
don't forget to restart after doing this.
best regards,
pavan
