This week we're delighted to have Thomas Erl amongst us, helping to answer questions in the Web Services forum.

We'll also be selecting four random posters in this forum to win a free copy of his book Service-Oriented Architecture: A Field Guide to Integrating XML and Web Services, provided by the publisher Prentice Hall PTR.

So, welcome Thomas!

Jimmy Carter,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

You don't stand a chance of being selected as a winner with an obviously fictitious display name.

We ain't got many rules 'round these parts, but we do got one. Please change your display name to comply with The JavaRanch Naming Policy.

Thanks Pardner! Hope to see you 'round the Ranch!

Yes, but you do have to give him credit for creativity.

This is what I like to see. Excellent reviews on Amazon and it's
reasonably priced to boot.

Welcome Thomas Erl,

Chapter 12 and 13 of the book mentions about the XML and Web Services best practices. How generally the best practices are identified? Is it based on the interviews of the technical people implementing web services or based on your personal experiences.

Please ask any questions in separate threads -- this thread is just for saying "hi" to Thomas
