Hi,
I have seen people using SOAP over HTTP. I would like to know is there any implementation where in SOAP over FTP or SMTP has been done? If so how far is the security being maintained?

Is there any examples of soap over ftp / http??

regards,

I haven't seen a single implementation using FTP or SMTP, but my guess would be that they are either
1) using a VPN for securing the transport, or
2) encrypting their messages, or
3) both

Doesn't Apache Axis support SMTP transport?

Thanks, Pradeep. So, at least Apache SOAP seems to support SMTP.

Well, it seems that Apache Axis supports SMTP transport as well. Has anyone seen a project using SMTP (or FTP, or something else) instead of HTTP? I'd like to hear about the reasons behind the choice.

So why have they SOAP independent of transport ptocol if HTTP is widely used?
