Hi all,

Was recently doing a comparison of the web service toolkits out there. Narrowed on the two popular kits and have a few of findings.

An initial look : Sun's WSDP seems to kick butt compared to IBM's extremely heavy WSDK.

The WSDK APIs dont support JSR105(XML Digital Signatures) yet; They cant seem to understand xsd:ID yet. It doesnt support SSL, and best of all, if you try to create a web service with Security On, it gives a nice little message "if you turn on security, this service wont be WS-I compliant"

Sun's WSDP does not seem to not have problems the above issues (it also seems to accomodate all 7 interop scenarios).

I guess the only thing going for the WSDK is the integration with eclipse(and that too the older 2.1 version)

If anyone of you have some points further to add/refute, it'd make this interesting.

Cheers,
Ryan
