Can u give me some guidelines as how do i write Client in Axis? I need to connect to an existing WebService which is supposed to be in axis.

Most of the webservice will have service descriptor file called WSDL. Apache Axis has a tool called WSDL2Java which can generate all the necessary client stubs for you to access and get the service results.

if your client is java application, then you don't need tomcat for just consuming the webservice
