run time error with axis and tomcat  RSS feed

hi
iam very new to webservices,i installed axis with tomcat. Happyaxis page is running fine.
but if i try to run example program given in samples/userguide/example1
TestCilent
i am giving java samples.userguide.example1.TestClient
then iam getting some exceptions saying that
java.lang.noclassdef found error r/apache/commons/discover/tools/discoverySingleton
at org.apache.axis.components.logger.logfactory$1.run
like this iam getting 4 lines.
Can anybody help me exactly what is happening?

be sure that you have classpathed all jars needed.
for example, log4j.jar, commmons.jar blah blah.

Try compiling like this
>java -classpath <Axis-claspat-variable> sampl.userguide.example1.TestClient

I used to like that,
Java -classpath $AXIS_CLASSPATH ex.java
