Hola,
How well versed into Java would one have to be in order to start with SOAP/JAXP/SAX? How well into XML?
My Java goes as far as basics and some swing, and XML as far as a solid grasp on the concepts and how to "travel" through hierarchy tree; would that be sufficient? Which topics would you recommend for a brushup before going for SOAP/JAXP and related technologies?
Mucho thanks,

Depends. Are you doing this for fun or claiming to be an expert on your resume? If you know a little of java there isn't any reason not to jump in. You will learn more java if nothing else. Don't get dragged down into the details to quickly. Stay high level, do some easy step-by-step tutorials where you don't have to worry about doing anything from scratch. Sun & IBM both have free tutorials on their web sites.

The first is true: I am not doing it for beautifying my resume, but because I want to learn it. I did some XML before I started with Java. I will follow your advice on the tutorials and absolutely stay high-level...
What areas of Java would you consider as must-haves-under-the-belt before you move on to XML+Java technologies?
