Hi, I'm looking for a way to securely transfer files across a network. My app server is WebSphere. Have an XSL front-end where the user can choose which file they want to download. I was thinking web services could be the way to go. Maybe SOAP with attachments ? or just streaming the file.I'll prob use document based web service. Any pointers wud be helpful! thanks..

As you are transferring arbitrary (i.e. non-XML) files you should probably focus on SOAP with Attachments where the file(s) travel in a MIME envelope (the SOAP envelope is the first item in the MIME envelope). Have a look at:
Tip: Passing files to a Web service
Sending SOAP attachments with JAX-RPC
which are also found on the JavaRanch Web Services FAQ
