Hi there,
Newbie to WS, Question for those of you that have much more experience.
I have to build a web service that is going to process some data in the format of, lets say 20 fields containing plain text and a body field containing rich text content. In order to avoid passing each field as a parameter, I had decided to use just one parameter and make that parameter an XML document. This way the data will have some structure and will be extensible. Meaning that if the client decides to add/remove/change any of the text fields we will not have to change the call to the WS or the receiving code, we will just have to change the XML doc that is passed as a parameter.

Here is where I need your help. Is this a good idea? If is not, any suggestions? If it is, any advise on possible issues that I may encounter?

Thanks in advance.

Its a good idea to pass the data as an XML document. You may want to refer to this section of blueprints to use as a checklist while designing using the XML document approach. Also you may find this article a useful reference.
