Go to http://ws.apache.org/axis/ down the latest axis APIs which is 1.4.
Follow the instructions - Developer's guide.

The latest version is Axis2 1.1.1 and the URL is http://ws.apache.org/axis2/

Start with downloading the binary distribution, install it and make sure its "validate" page says everything is OK.

Then examine the contents of the samples/quickstart directory. It's about the simplest possible Axis2 web service imagineable. Get that to run.

Once you're there, either you've already got new ideas on what to try, or else come back here to ask what's next

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
