Now this is a book I'd like to win and know more about. Will this book outline how I can write test scripts to send and retrieve information from PayPal's website or other location? I'm familar with a few other organizations that utilize their websites for selling goods whereby requests are made and sales information is sent back in the form of an XML doc. In the book, is there sample code demos available, additional tools outlined, etc.., to help an independent programmer to incorporate PayPal into their e-commerce site(s)? Thanks for any info.

Rob,

Thanks for your interest in the book, and I think you will find it useful. PayPal has a public API that you can use to make requests of PayPal's server. There is also a feature called Instant Payment Notification (IPN) that will call your script every time a new transaction occurs. Sample code for both is provided in the book (chapters 5 and 6).

There's also a testing Sandbox that you can access to create test PayPal accounts. The URL for that site is https://developer.paypal.com
