Connecting to a Mumps application using Web Services: good idea?
posted 9 years ago
We have a really big large old system which has been developed using Mumps language(very old). It has many troubles to maintain this system: few people here know Mumps and the ones who know are retiring. We also have troubles about maintaning it, because each little thing you change can cause large damages. People here want to create a new J2EE system to replace this current system, but as the application is very critical (used in an financial bank that can never stop) and very large (3,000,000 lines of code) they are thinking about using Web Services to connect to some parts of the system, to start the transition.
Can this be done? Has anyone already done such a thing like this?
