hi all,
i'm going to work on a web services related project,for this i'm learning web services from "Sam-Building Web Services with java...".
i'm able run the intial examples provided with the book.(provided as a web app)
what i want to do is write a small web service and deploy it on my own.
can anybody send me some pointer or the steps i need to follow..

i'm using Tomacat 5.5.x and apache axis ..

Both Axis 1 and 2 come with a number of example services which are ready to deploy. For Axis 1, have a look at "samples/userguide/example3", and for Axis 2 at "samples/quickstart".
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
