Socket programming using J2ME

Can J2ME support socket programming? I want to implement a client/server model using Java enabled phone.

You can do client sockets with the CLDC reference implementation, but actual implementations are not required to support sockets, so it's an iffy proposition. HTTP is really the only thing you can count on for now, so you may want to use HTTP tunneling.
