how to use the functions pow and other belonging to the math class

The Math class methods are all static methods so they are invoked using the name of the class then the method name, like this:
System.out.println("Math.pow(2,2) = " + Math.pow(2,2)); // would print 4.0 (the args for pow are doubles)
