how to open files in j2me

I have tried using "Connector.open("file:/samp.txt");" for opening a file in my local drive.
I am getting an error saying "Could not open url". Can someone help me out.

There is a File Api JSR. I forget what the number is. And only a rare few devices out there that implement it, if the JS is completed.

You could use an HTTPConnection to a Web Server/Servlet and have it return the text data.
