Raghav,
Since J2ME is kind of new and still in its early stage. There aren't a lot of books to choose from. As far as I know, there are three J2ME books available right now.
1. Java 2 Micro Edition by Eric Giguere, a good overview of the J2ME technology. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0471390658
2. My book, Wireless Java Programming with J2ME, a sort of programming guide for J2ME MIDP at http://www.webyu.com or http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0672321351
3. Programming Wireless Devices with the Java 2 (tm) Platform, Micro Edition from Sun, focuses a little more on CLDC and MIDP specifications http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201746271

There's also an explosion of wireless / micro development books scheduled for this year. Simple search on Amazon brought about 10! The first one to go, scheduled for this month, is
"Programming Wireless Devices with the Java 2 (tm) Platform, Micro Edition" by Roger Riggs, Antero Taivalsaari, Mark Vandenbrink.

You don't have to buy a book straight away. I got a good insight by reading the doc's and faqs on http://java.sun.com/j2me
