Is J2ME being supported by sun? If so, can we get the APIs from sun site? And how does it diffder from java?

J2ME is certainly supported by Sun, but not as conveniently as the J2SE and J2EE packages. You have to download the API for the appropriate "Profile". I just downloaded the MIDP profile, which is what you want for Palm from:
http://www.sun.com/software/communitysource/midp/

I'd disagree with William wrt how convienent it is. That you need to download J2ME in parts is due to the nature of the platform.
Note that Sun has MIDP support integrated into Forte, which shows a strong committment on their part. And J2ME is definately one of the bg themes at JavaOne this year.
Vasuma, note that the actual J2ME development is done through the Java Community Process (JCP), which is run by Sun. Although the API development itself may not be done by Sun, Sun certainly is fully behind it. (As are countless other companies.)
