Is it feasible at this time to develop commercial standard J2ME Applications on Palms, is there an MIDP available for use with the Palm OS?
Cheers, H

The question that still bothers me is - under what conditions will Sun let you distribute the Palm JVM package. It won't do me any good to develop an Application if my customers have to go through Sun's download contortions.

good point... not everyone using a Palm OS device is smart enough to navigate Sun's site. i get irritated myself sometimes. are we allowed to distribute the JVM freely?

Yeah, I problem I ran into before too, was that when you develop
an app, you get a second or two where the Duke flashes up juggling some balls....I asked around and supposedly, you couldn't get that removed. It's fine and all, but when I went to try to develop some apps, the people backing me didn't like the Duke loading classes at first and I had several instances where they backed out. Not sure how it is now...that was about a year ago.

I certainly saw some good, commercial grade applications on Palms at JavaOne (the best was a secure stock trading app). Some were made with the MIDP implementation, and some with the old kVM.
But Matt and William are right. I don't know if it's distributable yet. Duke was definately a big turnoff for execs over the last few years. I know he's not in Personal Java, but I don't know about Sun's MIDP.
