I am debating between buying a Palm device or one of the Compaq iPaq's. I want to start developing Java apps for whichever device I end up buying.
So, my questions are:
1. Do you think one OS is going to outlast the other?
2. Are there any advantages to having one device over the other in regards to developing and deploying Java apps? I know that the Palm OS is more widely available at the moment, but I am curious if this trend will continue.
3. Finally, on a personal note, which PDA do you prefer?
Thanks for the advice!
Chris

I'll sidestep any religious debates and simply say the devices are fundamentally different in terms of power and capabilities.
If coding Java is a major factor, consider that iPaqs run Personal Java (soon to be Personal Profile), which is very close to JDK 1.1.8, whiles Palsm currently run MIDPm and soon PDAP. But the Java willbe much less powerful--in the near term, anyway.
