ME!
I run Win98 for development and Linux for deployment. Fab to be able to code up on one and just throw the (J2EE) .ear file over to the other and it runs. That's where Java really works well...
MIDP4Palm works fine on Windows, if you mean running it with a Palm emulator (also known as POSE). You can get POSE from Palmos.com, but you also need a ROM image, which Palm will give you (if you wait long enough) or you can just download one from a friendly owner...
Better still MIDP4Palm hooks into Sun's J2EMWTK, so its:
1. code/edit
2. Build (J2MEWTK)
3. Run (J2MEWTK->invokes POSE automatically)
There are plenty of Palm examples in our Wrox book (Professional Mobile Java), from the basic HelloWorld through to some pretty complex stuff with JMS on a Palm.
