Hello, regarding CLDC/MIDP on top of PocketPC devices such as IPaq I made good experience using the JeodeVM from Insignia running ME4SE, which can be found at http://www.me4se.org An installation guide for PocketPC can also be found at this website. In order to run Java applications using Jeode you need to get a license which cost about $20.
The ME4SE implementation supports CommConnection and FileConnection as it is proposed in PDAP. If you have problems installing ME4SE don't hesitate to contact me, since I'm responsible for some parts of ME4SE, such as CommConnection, FileConnection and the RMS implementation.

Hi, try IBM J9.
http://www.embedded.oti.com/wdd/
Download the Websphere Micro Edition and install IBM J9 into PocketPC based on the help documentation.
It does work.
This is the only workable version I found for running MIDP environment under Microsoft PocketPC (Not WindowsCE, which is an old version of PocketPC).
If anybody find some other third party MIDP environment for PocketPC, please post it here, thanks in advance.
