Is J2ME the slimmed down version of Swing and woudl it require more resources to run as opposed to a WAP-based application ?
What would be the benefit of a J2ME-based application that had some kind of GUI -vs- a WAP, thin client based application ?
How does the Palm devices stack up against the iPaq in so far as performance in the above categories ?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
