Hi all,
I'm now coding for Motorola's 388.
Boss dont like standard components which extend javax.microedition.lcdui.Screen, he wants me to compose customed Form, List, Item, Alert, etc.
Since com.motorola.lwt provides a serie of components, I'm wandering whether to use these components to build my components or start from scratch.
I've to code not only for Motorola but alse Nokia, Simens, etc. com.motorola.lwt will no longer available in later develepment. Thus it seems I should not fall back on this motorola's package.
Has anyone done the same thing before? or Can u give me some hints on customize reusable components?
Thx in advance
Best regards,
jigsaw

While not knowing a real answer for you. I will say that using Motorola's classes ties you in with their library. If they ever stop making or supporting it then you are out on a limb. It is the old addage of what happens if you chose a vendor and that makes you stuck with the vendor.
And then if you have to go to a different vendor, what is the cost to replace Motorola's classes in your code.
Those are the questions you need to ask yourself when choosing a library or such.
Good Luck.
Oh, and if you do make your own custom GUI Objects, and one of them is a Table, let me know, I need one.
