Hi, everyone.
I am now writing a MIDlet for addressbook. I have a question about the user interface :
Assume in the phone display, I have the list of the addressbook, e.g.
--------------------
Alice
Bonnie
| Barry | <----- mobile phone screen
Louis
Mandy
-------------------
exit detail
I want to :
when the user presses the "A" button on the keypad, "Alice" will be highlighted, and when the user presses the "L" button, "Louis" will be selected . So that, it can allow the user to find the people quickly.
Are there any API to make it possible ?
Thanks

There is no direct API for this - however, if you go for managing all of the display yourself using a canvas, you can capture the key presses and react appropriately. At MIDP 2.0 you can have custom items which will allow this sort of functionality in a much slicker fashion.
