Is it possible to send messages from one phone to another with MIDP 1.0. If there is a way please inform me of some websites of references which i can refer to.

Yes, use the Wireless Messaging API (WMA). Sun has a reference implementation for MIDP 1. Nokia and other vendors also have propietary APIs for SMS messaging.

Nokia 3650 is the only phone that implement this API today.

Actually, according to Forum Nokia's device list the following Nokia phones which are already for sale support the Wireless Messaging API 1.0:
Nokia 3100 GSM 900/1800/1900
Nokia 3300 GSM 900/1800/1900 or GSM 850/1900
Nokia 3410 GSM 900/1800 (later software versions only)
Nokia 3600 GSM 850/1900
Nokia 3650 GSM 900/1800/1900
Nokia 3595 GSM 850/1900
Nokia 6800 GSM 850/1900
Nokia 7250i GSM 900/1800/1900
There are some others too which have been announced but aren't yet for sale.
