Over the past couple of years I have noticed that the source of much of the information regarding distributing and marketing J2ME apps via wireless carriers and their publishers is the wireless carriers or publishers themselves. I have noticed that a lot of this information is provided at a high level and is often missing a lot of important issues that are part of the distribution process.
There are many great books and articles describing the technical aspects of J2ME but very few that detail the events that occur when bringing your software to consumers.
If this topic interests you, I'd encourage you to take a look at an article I have written for this months issue of
Java Developer Journal,
Cashing In: Distributing and Marketing Your J2ME Killer App .
The article is based on experiences I have had with various J2ME distribution channels in the United States and includes detailed descriptions of the process involved when working with these distributors.
