Hi: I hava some experience on j2ee and j2se before, but not at all in j2me. I hope to know how can I get started on j2me? any good books? is there scjp equivalent in j2me? any vendor cert? Thanks! Java Steve [ February 02, 2004: Message edited by: Java Steve ]
Hello Steve and welcome to the JavaRanch. First things first, may I ask you to take another look at the naming policy and adjust your display name accordingly. Regarding your questions... The best way to start is a combination of a book and a habit of following related discussion forums such as this one, forum.nokia.com, MicroDevNet, and Sun J2ME forums. There is no certification yet, but Sun has SCMAD beta starting in a couple of days.
Thanks! i am also wondering what is the job opening distribution among different java fields: j2se, j2ee, j2me,... maybe it is hard to categorize jobs this way. but i got a feeling, j2me seems to be hot in the future. [ February 03, 2004: Message edited by: John Steve ]
I've also heard of similar predictions about J2ME being the skill to have. On the other hand, being a relatively simple toolkit in the GUI sense, MIDP applications are a prime target for heavy tool automation. What does Michael think about this?
Hi, may I suggest you to take a look at www.benhui.net? it is a mobile developer resources portal that has lots of J2ME links, bluetooth code, and java phone review. It is recently updated with lots of new content. Cheers, Ben
