I want an applet to run on PDAs and I don't know
much about PDAs. Does anyone know any answer of my
following questions?
1. PDAs have OS such as Windows CE or Palm OS and
they all have web browsers. Do they function like
normal IE on PCs? For example, using PDA web browser,
is it possible open any website? I am talking about
good modern PDAs that have good hardware specification.
2. Which Java Virtual Machine do PDAs usually have?
I guess C virtual machine(CVM). Is that correct?
3. Can the web browser run applets or do they have
to be rewritten in MIDlets? I am talking about a
very simple applet which does not stress PDAs memory
& CPU. I asked this question before and one said
"yes" and the other said "no" I guess this depends
on which JVM the PDAs uses...
4. I am using WTK104 for J2ME development and the PDA
emulator I have installed(Palm) does not support color.
I am looking for an emulator which supports color and
high memory. I would like to know which are the major
PDA emulators. Could anybody recommend me one? I tried
to download one from http://www.palmsource.com/palmos/
but it wouldnt let me log in
Thank you in advance for your reply!

For the most part you wil be using midlets not applets..
Although some high end pdas can run applets under high end j2me witht he fp/pp/pb profiles that nis not every pda..
so thus because midlets can not run in broswers you cannto view it in a broswer..
Yes, the cvm is usally used..
you should register at pluggedinpalm.com..for pda emulaors for palmos see my emulator list at
J2ME Emulators
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
