What books do you all recommend for learning about J2ME? My only background in Java is SCJP.

Jonathan Knudsen's Wireless Java would be my choice for a MIDP 2.0 compatible book. If you can get your hands on John Muchow's Core J2ME Technology, that might also be a good choice. It's a bit old (MIDP 1.0) but should be a good starting point.
I too would recommend "Wireless Java" as a starting point. It is a very well-written, clear book that reads fast. The main drawback I would say is that you may need to complement it with another, more in-depth book later (assuming one exists since I haven't read any others myself yet). That's because some of the topics are covered very briefly and lack examples. But if I remember correctly, it is one of the few books that covers MIDP 2.0.
